About EarlyBird

Our Story & Purpose

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering youth and families to build financial stability, responsibility, leadership, and generational change.

Our Story

It began with a request from an 11th-grade student

"Our school does not teach financial literacy. Our parents work hard, but they don't have the time or knowledge to teach us. I do not want to grow up repeating the same financial anxiety."

In 2023, a high school student from an immigrant family shared these words with Liwei McBain. That conversation revealed a hard truth: many middle-class families are overlooked, and many students lack the mentors, resources, and mindset to break the cycle of financial anxiety.

In the summer of 2024, Liwei joined educators, financial professionals, entrepreneurs, youth volunteers, and community partners to officially launch EarlyBird Financial Empowerment.

Our Vision

To build a thriving community where every person understands money, lives with dignity, and has the ability to create, manage, protect, and share resources wisely.

We Believe

Every child deserves an abundance mindset.

Every family can learn to manage money wisely.
